Vintage Metal Surveyor Tape Chain Measure.
I haven't manipulated it much as not to unravel it and not be able to get it folded back correctly. I believe it to be 100 feet, but let the photos be your guide. The end of the chain reads 9/8 then 9/9 then 9/00. I cut a string to match the circumference of the circle, measured the string in inches, then multiped that by an estimated number of spirals. This estimate came to 1,209 inches which converted is 100 feet. Other markings indicate Lufkin Rule Co. ONE RR/Half Gage. Saginaw Mich. Made in USA.
I have not cleaned or rinsed it. I see minor wear from age and use. I do not see any breaks or welds, but like I stated... I have not unraveled it. Folding and unfolding these is a learned skill.
